Comunque è un dark romance che penso si possa considerare abbastanza soft e per questo può essere un ottimo primo approccio al genere per chi vuole provarlo. Sadly it is a trilogy so be prepared to be drawn in where you are counting the days until the next one. I am incredibly fond of the FMC who came into her own through the story and embraced the dark feminine traits I love to see in a female character. Their fates collide when Lisane is brought to Rhaim's doorstep, gifted to him by her father in exchange for his efforts in the ongoing war towards the Deathless.

Lisane starts out fierce but for most of the book she seems meek and whiney, always scared and always reacting wildly that this new thing is either more terrible than the last or not as bad, and then changing her mind about it later. The MMC's pov was meant to explain the magic system to us; that was it, but the author tried to stretch it out, and it made his story feel almost silly. I want to underline that this is indeed dark, meaning yes, you’re seeing a Beast worthy of an adult retelling. My favorite aspect was the dual POV that provides for deep insight into the mind of the sexy LI--the All-Beast. Surprisingly of my favorite elements of the story was the plot against the Deathless and the unique magics that each mage possessed.Being a "Beauty and The Beast" retelling you can already guess the main elements you'd find here: the castle, the magic, the library, and of course, the Beast. As far as the romance, it's non existent and I really hope that at least the print version of the book comes with an author's note that this should not be used as an instructive example for BDSM.

Do not be deceived by the title, its much more deep and detailed and incredibly interesting than I bet you are thinking! But I wasn't accustomed to my own breath hot against my face, or the rough feeling of fabric against my cheek-or knowing that my wrists were tied behind my back, painfully tight. It did take me a little bit to get fully into the characters and writing style, but the story concept had me from the first page. From the author of the Dark Ink Tattoo series and the co-author of Prince of the Other Worlds, comes a dark fantasy romance series, akin to Beauty and the Beast crossed with Kushiel's Dart, that will absolutely melt your kindle. The main characters have so much character building, and the way Cassie imagines magic is also fantastic.I was fascinated with this magical world and I can't wait to read more about it, and maybe even explore it more, in the following books!
