When I talked to someone from Asus, they said the size of the screw is 2x3 mm

M.2 SSD Screw SOLID STATE HDD MOUNTING SCREWS FOR M2 Card

I’ve built a multitude of Computers, Workstations and Renderfarms and love to optimize them as much as possible. Access to a great community, with a massive database of experience on hard & software issues, gaming and recreational activities, and more The ideal size for the M2 screw is 2 x3 mm or 2x 8 mm, depending on the motherboard you have, but you can use any regular screw if it has the correct measurements. Now, sometimes, we just have to wing it and find a way to make it work. You’re missing that M.2 screw but you still want to finish setting up your PC now, and not in 3 days when the new screw arrives, right? Most NVMe SSDs don’t come with the 2x3mm M2 SSD screw needed to fit the hard drive into the system. And even if they do, they’re very easy to lose, leaving you wondering what you can do to install your SSD into the dedicated SSD slot in the motherboard.

Typical Apple Innovation…

Hello and first of all thank you to help us. I Have a Pavilion Desktop with the motherboard Willow2 ( https://support.hp.com/it-it/document/c05954013). I bought an additional SSD m.2 but to fix it I don't have the right screw. I tried to put a couple of small ones I had at home but it wasn't the right one. Do you maybe help me to discover which size that motherboard's screws need and also (if you know) where I can buy a couple of ones? Our servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. I do not know if it is standardised or if there are different versions of the screws/standoffs. I can send you pictures and measurements of mine but I do not run the exact same mobo.As the name implies, they’re screws designated to screw in M.2 drives into your motherboard. And they can be a right nuisance at times because they have a tendency to magically disappear when you actually need them. I haven't been that bothered by the screws myself. My biggest issue was that most motherboards don't have a screw there by default. Seems to be that the SSDs themselves generally have come with the screws. Why don't they just include at least one screw in the longest position so it's there ready to go and can be moved to whatever location is needed? Also, I have these screws as well, but these are for my computer case..don't know if any of them would be good. Instead of trying to force the wrong length or threading into its place and ultimately damaging your hardware, it’s better to read the user manual or support resources that came with the SSD to know the parts you need to install the SSD. Gorilla Glue is awesome. Little bit of that on the CPU or GPU cooler and you never have to change your thermal paste again.
