The University is primarily responsible for the provision of graduate education. If you are on a taught course, then your department or faculty will arrange your teaching. If you are a research student then your department or faculty will assign you a supervisor. The role of the College is to offer you academic or pastoral support during your studies. The Senior Tutor oversees academic appointments and the College teaching of undergraduates. Together with the Tutor for Undergraduates and Tutor for Graduates, the Senior Tutor’s functions cover the whole range of academic welfare. They are available to all students to give advice on any academic or personal concerns. The Senior Tutor is assisted by the Academic Administrator and other staff in the Academic Office. The Academic Office maintains academic records, as well as administering various grants, scholarships and prizes. The Academic Office is where you should take any questions relating to the academic, as opposed to the domestic side of your life. It is also where you should go to book a place on a graduation ceremony, to replace lost University cards, and to request any official letters you require. Formal action starts with a report from the tutor(s) to the Tutor for Undergraduates. The Tutor for Undergraduates will usually be able to resolve the situation by meeting with the student and perhaps initiating a period of monitoring in the form of fortnightly reports from the student's tutors. Occasionally a student will be issued with a formal warning, or be required to appear before an Academic Panel. Anyone subject to such formal proceedings is issued with details of the procedure and of their obligations and rights (including the rights of appeal). If maintenance is required to take place in term time we endeavour, wherever possible, to give 5 days’ notice. Wadham is a liberal and progressive college which aims to maintain the diversity of its student body and a friendly atmosphere. [4] Founded as a men's college, in 1974 it was among the first to become coeducational, [5] and the college has a strong reputation as a promoter of gay rights. In 2011 it became the first Oxford college to fly the rainbow flag as part of queer week, a celebration of sexual diversity and individuality. [6] In January 2013, skeletons were discovered during building works on college grounds. Contrary to previous rumours of bullet wounds being found on one of the bodies, these remains were found to be medieval in origin. [52] [53]

The courses and examinations are defined and organised by the appropriate faculties within the University, and set out in the University Examination Regulations available here: https://examregs.admin.ox.ac.uk/. Make sure you are familiar with all relevant parts of it. Note that changes are made from year to year and be sure to consult the version relevant to your 'start date'. The College already recycles much of its waste and we are fully integrated into Oxford City Council’s recycling arrangements. The programme includes the co-mingled recycling of tins, cans, plastics and cardboard. The waste created by College is collected daily Monday-Friday and, where appropriate, it is sent for recycling. The Wadham Handbook is updated every summer and all students then become bound by the updated version. Typical changes might be including a new harassment policy or procedure, or updating information on student welfare provision. College rent and food charges are also revised in an agreed process involving current students, and all students then pay the updated charges. Students are responsible for ensuring that they enter themselves for their exams in a timely fashion.Providing a ‘top-up’ clean in flat kitchens every two to three weeks.
