We need to have a relaxing weekend away from orange-throwing Genovians and your insane family." (92) The only bits that I did like involved Michael Moscovitz (continuing to make ladies’ hearts go bip-di-boom) and an unexpected twist involving a new character who was instantly likeable. Nostalgic value. I first read the Princess Diaries as a wee tweenager and the series still holds a special place in my heart. Mia has such a distinct voice and it's just comforting to dive into her world again (even midst the pandemic) But because Grandmere is a nightmare (who can forget Helen and Frank's supposed wedding?) and the paparazzi like being paparazzi, there are... complications.

For everyone asking what the book has to do with The Princess Diaries Series, it's the book Mia (the protagonist of 'The Princess Diaries') 'wrote' between the 9th and the 10th book of the series. Of course Meg Cabot is the real author here. The issues I had with this book are the massive amounts of politics, political correctness, wokeness, and anti-America/Americans are 'idiots' trope. This is from an author who was born in Indiana! She's seriously not happy about the news, but makes a compromise with her Dad: that she'll keep going to school like normal, but would spend the summers in Genovia doing the princess thing. She wasn't expecting her formidable grandmother to come to New York to give her princess lessons, and she wasn't expecting the same grandmother to leak the story to the press. Now she's suddenly popular but it's the last thing she wants. Jazmin Grace Grimaldi (1992–present): the illegitimate daughter of Albert II, Prince of Monaco, born and living in the U.S. The book follows Mia as she learns to navigate friendships, royalty, first crushes, and just about every other formulaic plotline you can imagine for a coming-of-age novel targeted at teenage girls, post-2000.

The heroine, Finnula Crais, is extremely likable. She's kind, fierce, brave and outspoken. She's good with a bow and arrow, has keen hunting instincts and she wears pants. On the other hand, the hero, Hugo Fitzstephen is extremely boring. He is a handsome womanizer with a knightly heart and he is not much else. But honestly, honestly, seeing Mia go through what so many of us went through during the pandemic (plus more, since she is, of course, the ruler of a small but important country), has been balm to my soul. Not knowing what day it is, let alone what time. Struggling with kids being home from school, trying to get elderly relatives to take care of themselves. Weight gain from lounging around stress eating. Princess Mia is all of us! These issues aside, it is a cute, fast-reading book for days when you don't want to overthink what you are reading.d) She has a support system teeming with caring ( yes, grandmère counts in her own twisted way) relatives, astute friends and good ol’ Lars for a bodyguard. Immature Characters—I read The Princess Diaries: The Royal Wedding when it came out and really enjoyed it! I guess I thought that this would feel more like that…but I don’t think it did. Mia felt like she hadn’t grown up at all. Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret” in Shelf Discovery: The Teen Classics We Never Stopped Reading (July 2009)

The series is set primarily in the Manhattan borough of New York City. Some books take place in Genovia, a fictional European country. Genovia is a principality between France and Italy ruled by Mia's father, Prince Philippe Renaldi, and by Mia's grandmother, Dowager Princess Clarisse Renaldi. Girl’s Guide to New York Through the Movies” in Metropolis Found (August 2003)New York Is Book Country Princess Mia Thermopolis of Genovia is finally marrying her long time boyfriend Michael Moskowitz. The two have been together since high school when they were brought together by Mia's best friend, Michael's sister Lilly. Unlike the majority of people who can get engaged and plan a wedding with little than the normal stress, Mia has to plan hers with both the tabloids and the world watching her every move. Life is already a bit of a strain and when her dad tells her he's the crown prince of Genovia and, since his testicular cancer has left him unable to have more children, Mia is now the heir to the throne, it becomes even more unbearable. The Princess Diaries is what got me into YA in the first place. I grew up with Mia's obsession with her A-cup boobs, attending royal functions, witnessing her mom marry her Algebra teacher, snagging Michael (and losing him five books later), battle depression, and her ultimate happy ending. Forever Princess remains my favorite Princess Diaries book to date. For life, you never know where the road will take you. Yours took you to a place where you got the diamond shoes, but now all you can say is “Ow! These diamond shoes! They fit so tight and hurt so much!” No one wants to hear about how tight your diamond shoes fit. You got the diamond shoes! Many people, they have no shoes at all.’ The book is a bunch of diary entries by Princess Mia. She is a grown-up now and ruling Genovia like a boss. She is now a mother of twins and married to Michael. From the outside looking in, she has a perfect life. But then the coronavirus starts hitting the news and she is about to face another challenging task; trying to keep the people of Genovia safe while raising her family. So a portion of the proceeds of this book will go to Vow for Girls. 100% of funds raised by Vow For Girls goes directly to local organizations advancing girls’ rights!

Her famous series ‘The Princess of Diaries’ has always featured in TV shows and one of the most loved movies. You can always find these series online and get to know the whole story or watch the series of the ‘Princess Diaries’ and you will definitely love it. Meg Cabot is therefore a great and inspiring author that you should not miss reading and even watching her famous books. They are available online hence easily accessible. Her grandmother comes to New York as well and starts to give her princess lessons, including a full makeover for Mia. She is not the kind matronly grandmother that we got with Julie Andrews who was understanding, she was strict and unkind, completely judgmental and steam rolled over everyone. Honestly I could have seen Julie being a bit more Mary Poppins with the role with her being more pompous and such it could have worked, but they wanted to make her kinder. The books are noted for containing many popular culture references from the 2000s that influence some of the plot.
