Customers included Natalie Wood, Princess Grace, Ronald Reagan, Nancy Reagan, Diana Ross, Charlton Heston, and Elizabeth Taylor. [2] Present day [ edit ] As a teen when I wore Giorgio it was a theatrical fantasy. I wasn't a little awkward dark haired girl. I was vibrant, I was a hair-sprayed blonde, I had a convertible and a phone shaped like a burger in my bedroom, all the boys at school were in awe of me and looked confusingly like they were in their mid 20's... It’s a peculiar scent in that it’s hard to classify as a fragrance personality. The incense squares it into “oriental” but it’s too soft and plush to play with carnal scents like “Tabu” or “Bal A Versailles”, though it seems like it should command a room with the same confidence.

Somewhere in the Mediterranean or Far East. An ageless and beautiful, veiled woman wrapped in wine red silk and cashmere walks thru the center of a spice market in the cool of dusk. Dark smoldering eyes filled with secrets and wisdom...I was given "Red" as a gift when the scent was new... so, I must have been about 15 years old. yes, this one is probably a bit much for a 15-year-old, but I was a 15-year-old who successfully wore Poison, almost every day, taking a "break" with Tabu... I remember the gifter admitting that she had chosen it for me because I have red hair. This is a rekindled love with this perfume. I haven't had it in over 20 years easily and now I'm in love again, as if it's the first time I'm wearing this all over again! Happy giddy love! Then when they came out with the reformulation, I snapped up a new 3.4 bottle. And then hoarded away a second one - just in case they scotched it again. I think Giorgio is going to help me deliver exactly what I want to convey about myself to the general public. Actually, Giorgio Beverly Hills really just makes me smell like an old whore but I kinda dig that, actually.

The fragrance comes with a ton of happy memories including my older sister tried to hide her mini bottle from me in her room, probably the only time we spoke in delight ha ha we laughed about its x rated properties that bottle went MIA later. The scent memories, just like the fragrance. Giorgio was never known for its innocence -that peach note maybe was to smooth out the notes? I doubt it really bc peach note was in everything then. It is quite lovely. To my inexpert nose Red for Men has an elegant aromatic theme with subtle spices and floral notes, on a resinous, leathery amber foundation. Like vintage Giorgio for Men of the same era, the impression is high quality and almost niche. Red for Men smells somehow Italian, reminiscent of one of those intricate fragrances by Florentine artisan perfumers with hundreds of ingredients. Performance and longevity are above average. The base is an even blend of the usual suspects. It is also lighter. It's done screaming. Red is a floral oriental for the most part. It falls away with time. Becomes a whisper. Well, sir, after scrolling thru review after review....so intense, so hilarious, so touching....resistance is futile. Even if I hated Giorgio I'd have to keep it in the face of all this passion. We are going through a phase in American history where I've been actively seeking a fragrance that would remind me of a more positive time in life. I'm needing a good dose of "sunshine in a bottle" -- and so I began researching fragrances that had more notes that resonated with this type of positive, happy, energy.

Is it heavy? Yes. It's it 80's masculine/macho powerhouse? Yes. But is it totally unique in today's world of sweet/fresh dime-a-dozen scents? Totally. In the late 90's my dad give me a used bottle of this stuff, that was getting almost syrupy. I remember loving those leathery/woody notes and the fact that as previous reviewers have stated, this is a 'take no prisoners' scent. This fragrance works. It just does. I wore it today (daytime) while hanging around the house and won't do that again. This scent is too sophisticated. It's what you wear when going out. This is NOTHING like the first and original Giorgio! So if you have smelt that before and even HATE IT...you will still love this perfume! Think of Charlie and how strong that is and then what it was like to smell the romantic Charlie-Red and you’ll understand the big difference between Giorgio and RED! Plush incense and “cherry sweets” smoke. Not cigarette smoke but sweet pipe tobacco and cigar smoke. Yes, despite the fact that she was never a signature scent for me, nor even a favorite, she has the power to evoke the biggest reaction out of me of all scents past and present. Which is both fascinating and SCARY.
