I recently noticed that Kitsch bars are advertised as being silicone-free so decided to take another look. These can be derived from coconut, rapeseed, or palm oil. The main complaint was a few people saying their hair was dry when they didn’t use a conditioner afterwards. Usually, it’s the conditioner that contains silicones, but in this instant, it was the shampoo bar too.Its shampoo bars are vegan, cruelty-free (certified by leaping bunny) and made in the USA. They are free from soap and are pH balanced to properly clean your hair. The shampoos are nice. They go on smoothly, produce nice foam and I definitely noticed a difference in the look and feel of my hair afterwards.

However, the conditioner is super hard to apply. I can be standing there rubbing it on my head for 30 seconds and don't feel like any has actually transferred. I've also tried rubbing it into my hands first, but again it is hard even to make any kind of lather to apply, and we have a water softener. And to top it all, my hair came out frizzy afterwards. Definitely no signs of improved hair growth either. I’m telling you this so you can make an informed choice and don’t end up like my friend with the greasy, slimy hair. As you’re swapping to zero-waste products, I can only assume you want to reduce your plastic waste so this outcome would not be ideal.
