It's not the cheapest smart scale around, but the integration with other apps, devices and services is exceptional, and makes it easy to recommend. I didn’t specifically test that each user’s screen preferences are separately saved, I assume they are. Garmin Index Scale 2 – Getting your data elsewhere

You can select and save up to 7 WiFi networks within the Index S2 scale. I suppose that might be valuable for use cases where a coach/physician/staff/athlete is moving the scale between locations on different WiFi networks, perhaps having a hotspot one + a normal office/home location. Your natural weight can easily vary by 3kg per day if you eat, drink and weigh at the ‘wrong’ time. It’s all about trying to compare like with like. Generally, I think I did that each day all the Garmin results seemed plausible when compared to previous results. The Skeletal Muscle Mass function allows you to see how much skeletal muscle you have on your body which allows you to view how much muscle you’re building.

Garmin has just announced the new Index S2 smart WiFi scale, building slightly upon the previous first-generation Index WiFi scale released nearly 5 years ago. This new model switches to a color display that’ll show weight trending information, helping to visualize the normal day to day fluctuations. It also adds a handful of tweaks like being able to customize the data widgets on-screen, showing difference to previous weigh-in, as well as increasing the sensitivity of some of the sensors driving the algorithms related to body fat & impedance-based measurements. Overall it’s a minor upgrade. It’s hard to say which scales were giving the most accurate reading, but the Garmin scales were significantly higher than the others. They were, however, consistent with themselves, and readings were very much in line with what these scales had previously recorded. As we mentioned earlier, the scales connect to the Garmin Connect app. We’re big fans of the app in general, and it works fantastically well with the brand’s smartwatches, as we mentioned in our Garmin Venu 2 review. When used alongside the Index S2 smart scales however, the results are underwhelming.Tip: Your Garmin Connect account can be a dormant one that you only use for the purpose of sending the data somewhere else. So first tries to get it to connect to Connect, and they failed. I was getting indications that it needed an important update, and wouldn’t (apparently) connect without it. I successively weighed myself to ensure the results were the same. All devices were highly similar and highly consistent with no significant variation at all. (like 100g or 50g variation) Consecutive Body Fat readings Easy to set up with convenient WiFi and Bluetooth connection, the Garmin Index S2 is a decent but expensive smart scale suitable for lots of people. We also found in testing there is an emphasis on multiple weigh-ins, which could be useful for pro athletes but for the average person could lead to obsessive behaviors.
