About this deal

The Cerebel is meant to be fast in a wide variety of positions for a wide spectrum of riders. Again, I can't confirm these claims, but with its rounded, bobtail shape, it's easy to understand them. Derived from Specialized's previous S-Works McLaren TT helmet, the newer S-Works TT is updated with patented side 'gill' vents that increase airflow through the helmet. Having never tried the McLaren, I can't comment on any improvement in cooling, but the S-Works TT is reasonably well-ventilated for a time-trial lid.

The Cerebel tops our list thanks to its comfortable interior, good ventilation and crystal-clear, easy-to-use visor For a Tour de France prologue, for instance, it’s all about speed. Dennis’ 2015 Tour prologue, for the record, was ridden at 55.44 kph. There are no vents in the Aerohead Ultimate MIPS, but two small gaps in the shield channel air up into the helmet, where it flows through channels over the top of the head. The rear of the Ulltimate is also semi-sealed with a Lycra cover, so riders can still adjust the RocLoc tightening system but air is kept from swirling through the area. Keep in mind when interpreting these results that aerodynamics are extremely individual - just because it tests fast in one position doesn’t mean it’ll be fast for you and vice versa. Time Trail helmets: the results

Our Thoughts

The Wasp's visor aids in ventilation as well. Using different indents in the mounting hardware, it can be pulled away from the helmet to increase ventilation, and doing so works exceptionally well. Reduced weight and aerodynamics aren't the only design details to take into account when considering this helmet. With increased ventilation comparable to the higher-end model, the Aerohead MIPS TT helmet provides four Wind Tunnel vents that work homogeneously with internal channelling and the vented lens shield to provide a constant flow of cooling air. Proven to boost airflow without affecting aerodynamics, this system provides superior ventilation for when the heat starts to build up. During a time trial or triathlon you need a clear view. For this reason, this road bike helmet is equipped with a ZEISS eye shield. Thanks to this new design, you will experience an impressive and large field of vision with unparalleled clarity. Because of the magnetic mount the eye shield is securely attached to the time trial helmet, while stil being able to easily remove and store. cooling power while remaining aerodynamic. Additionally, Aerohead Mips® features a wrap-around eye shield that and comfort by combining the Mips slip plane with the helmet's adjustable fit system. Giro believes that helmets

For those who are a bit less statuesque or prefer a more head-up position, something with a snub tail or bobtail shape will likely yield the best results. What do I need to know about ventilation in a time trial helmet? All Giro helmets are designed to reduce as much energy as possible while meeting and exceeding stringent safety helmets. By creating helmet molds in up to 4 adult sizes to match the human body's form, our Super Fit sizes Finally, the last item we wanted to cover (and which we typically get the most questions about) was whether it made us faster. And unfortunately, we can’t answer for sure without heading to a wind tunnel for consistent and repeatable tests. Add to that the fact that different rider’s positions require different helmets, and we just refuse to speculate. What we will say that if the Aerohead works for your position, you won’t go wrong with this helmet. Wrapping Up The front comes with a magnetic clip-on visor, which is available in three colours and can be flipped if you want to keep them out of the way. However, this will cover the vents, which themselves are surprisingly useful given their diminutive size. Inside there's a gel pad to aid grip and comfort, and Met's Safe-T Orbital retention system provides a wraparound adjustment, four vertical positions and positions of occipital adjustment too. Air allows cool airflow to pass directly over your head, further enhancing the performance of vents and internal

While designed to be fast, it also puts an emphasis on ventilation. With an optional longer tail and several different venting options, it's widely adaptable for changing conditions and different rider needs. This bicycle helmet consists of a polycarbonate shell with an EPS lining on the inside. In addition, the MIPS system has been added on the inside for extra protection. As a result, lateral and rotational forces, which occur in the event of a fall, can be better absorbed. The positive effect of having MIPS is that the chance of brain damage is reduced significantly. Moreover, the shape of this racing bike helmet of course guarantees optimal aerodynamic performance. We found that the HJC and the Met tested similarly - although the HJC did test slightly faster, it was within the error margins of our experiment and therefore not statistically significant. The Giant is fairly tight over the ears – likely a good thing in terms of aerodynamics – but can be a bit uncomfortable on longer rides. Personally, I think the Rivet TT would be great for short, hot time-trials or triathlons.
