The impressive adaptability of these gelatinous beauties continues to fascinate us; jellyfish populations are flourishing in our increasingly warm and toxic oceans.

We are all survivors of starvation, drought, volcanic eruptions, meteorites, plagues, parasites, predators, freak weather events, tussles and scraps, and our bodies are shaped by these ancient events. Combing through history, art, and science, Peter Williams tells stories proving that these graceful watery creatures deserve our appreciation even while they elude our understanding.

She has recently taken part in Ù O’ | SUO, a poetry exchange project between Wales and Vietnam, supported by the British Council and co-edited the A470, a bilingual poetry anthology about the infamous road running from the north to the south of Wales. The writing feels fresh, inclusive and wise, a really lovely blend of the good things that poetry can bring to the intellect and to the senses. In many places they are also vastly increasing in number, and these population blooms may be an ominous indicator of the rising temperatures and toxicity of the world’s oceans. But also the description of all the aspects related to jellyfishes (anatomy, reproduction, ecology, etc) described clearly, makes this book an excellent read.

When it feels like the whole world is against you, it’s important to find those alcoves in your life where you feel safe and seen… and books can be exactly that! There are other countless examples of how he turns "simplistic, popular science" on its head, with a nice dose of actual reality, backed by solid science. Jellyfish: a Natural History is written the director of the Australian Marine Stinger Advisory Services—quite a job. After reading the last section on how humans have affected ocean environments, I'm convinced that jellyfish will be completely taking over our oceans any day now.Unfortunately although collection and packaging are fine the jacket on the book is marked in many places. The book features illustrations of fish, sharks, and coral, and is based on a popular children's song with a new version. The Emotion Ocean series of picture books for children aged 4 plus are a great way to promote discussion of feelings and emotions, help build positive relationships and boost self-esteem and good behaviour. Below, I’ve featured just a handful of jellyfish books for preschoolers that will help your kids ages 3-6 learn more about these brainless, spineless creatures of the sea.
