The Glenglassaugh Distillery was mothballed from 1986 until 2008 and this the first whisky to be made from spirit distilled at the distillery since it reopened. Produced using traditional methods at the distillery founded in 1875, this 46% ABV whisky is a testament to the passion and dedication of the Glenglassaugh team. The distillery sat silent for over 20 years until it was purchased by a group of investors and started production again in December 2008. During the 20th century, Glenglassaugh whisky was mainly used in Highland Distillers blends, such as Famous Grouse, with official distillery bottlings being rare.During this time the onsite maltings were shut down and from then on Tamdhu Distillery provided the malt.
