They do however love dried fruit so I thought it would be fun to recreate a candy necklace without using candy. The Inspired Home's mission is to inspire, inform and encourage you to make your house into a home, lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle and to create moments to celebrate and connect with your friends and family. Not only does it make for a great conversation starter, but it also ensures you have a snack handy whenever you feel peckish. As a kid, I remember eating the sweet edible candy necklaces; however, this DIY Edible Necklace is a better alternative. If it is difficult for you to see how I did mine because of the clear nylon string, head over to her post where it is very easy to see how it is done.

You were my little shadow just a few years ago, we did everything together, especially in a year when the girls were in school and even when they were homeschooled, finding activities to do with you while they were learning was so fun. Welcome to Everyday Shortcuts, where I share delicious and simple recipes that anyone can cook, practical household tips and clever shortcuts to help simplify your everyday life. Soak middle of ribbon (about 2 feet or more) in the sugar water mixture, then coat in sugar overnight until dry. It will keep the kids’ distracted without the threat of a whole container of cereal flying out everywhere! After the movie we had a fashion show, my friend Amanda wore my big sisters prom dress along with her candy necklace. For my daughter’s final bake sale of the school year, I had wild ambitions to make fancy cookies, lemon brownies and gooey sprinkled rice Krispy squares. They remain a beloved treat for children and adults alike, and are often seen at parties, festivals, and other events. I had so much fun making a garland out of Conversation Hearts that I just had to craft one more thing with them! It lasted about 5 to 10 minutes before “we” ate the cheerios:) Either way, it was fun to create and it does keep the kids occupied for a while.

I don’t have videos of parents in them because I was otherwise occupied but I did get one of my husband in the 4th slide. I opted to use cereal in place of candy because it’s easier to work with, and it’s a slightly easier to keep the focus on the activity rather than the yum-factor (I know candy can be a battle in some households). And what makes this even better, is that it’s also a great craft idea to keep the little ones occupied before you go out. The concept of edible jewelry dates back to ancient times, where people would adorn themselves with jewelry made of edible materials such as fruits, nuts, and grains. This would be a really good activity for a kids party, or just something to keep the kids entertained on a rainy afternoon.
