There aren’t even many markers of what’s happening in the outside world; Jude moves to a loft in SoHo as a young man, but we don’t see the neighborhood change from gritty artists’ enclave to glitzy tourist destination. Often, it described performances on the piano so vividly, that even someone like myself who is certainly no musician or has never taken any music classes ever could really follow and almost live through. It was fantastic though, slow, so not for everyone, but pfew does it make your heart melt a little and make you give a silent thank you to music.

Each contestant was wonderfully drawn, and I felt moved, as if I were truly hearing each and every musical piece. Despite this, Honeybees and Distant Thunder is still an emotive and poetic work, well worth the time it takes to read it. Though Honeybees and Distant Thunder is centered around the Yoshigae International Piano Competition, a fictional contest set in a rural seaside town, the story is strongly character-driven. As someone who knows nothing about this particular world, I’m surprised that I really enjoyed it and I learned a great deal from this novel.Or will it be child of nature, Jin, a pianist without a piano, who carries the sound of his father's bees wherever he goes?

She grew up in Sendai and attended Waseda University, where she played the alto saxophone in a student band. Onda’s book does this with rich poetry (if occasionally a tad verbose), creating a strong emotional connection from the start. This is a character driven novel all about their growth as artists and finding a sense of comradeship in each other, as being a genius is a lonely thing when you’re by yourself. Minusem jest Jin - nie sama postać, która się broni, ale to, jak traktuje go narrator, bo opisywany jest jak pięciolatek. This book reads like a screenplay adaptation of a shonen manga, with its manga characters, manga narrative, manga flashbacks and manga reactions. Over the course of two feverish weeks, three students will experience some of the most joyous – and painful – moments of their lives.

Over the course of two feverish weeks, three students will experience some of the most joyous—and painful—moments of their lives. This isn’t a cutthroat read about intrigue at a competition or even exactly suspenseful, it’s almost restful and idyllic. Riku Onda’s “Honeybees and Distant Thunder” takes readers through the fictional Yoshigae International Piano Competition, during which the fears and aspirations of four competitors are explored to magical effect.

In the beginning there are quite a few characters and I found it a little disorientating: Onda throws us into the heads of contestants and judges alike. Abelhas e trovoada ao longe" é um livro sobre o poder da música, jornadas de superação e grandes amizades.
