Somehow Floyd McClung described the wounds in my heart and the love in the Father’s heart in ways I’d never heard before. The little boy turned to his friend, and he said, "You know, I think I got somebody under my bed at home. To know God's constant love and concern at a time when life no longer seems worth living is an unimaginable blessing.As I thought about it this past week, it raised a couple of questions in my mind, some clarifications I needed. Because of this book and McClung’s keen awareness of how we all struggle with the concept of God the Father, due to the relationships we have with our own earthly fathers, my life has been immeasurably altered and I now have an ever growing, most incredible relationship with my Heavenly Father.

Today as a follower of Jesus it is common to come before God as a Father, but we may have our own definition of what a father is. People said you were "too fat," or "too thin," or had "his legs" or "her nose," but God delighted in your uniqueness and still does. Focusing on your service to God will constantly cause you to go through this cycle of feeling like you’re not getting enough. If I start here in North America and go north, eventually I get to the top of the globe at the North Pole. But we do need to realize that our concept of God's generosity may have been crippled by our childhood experiences.
